Views of Senior Analysts & Insights Views of senior analysts Abigail, Senior Analyst at OJ DATA’s Chemical Market Research Center, commented that the Chitosan market is a rapidly growing industry with a wide range of potential applications. It is important for market participants to stay informed of the latest developments and trends in the industry. It is also important to understand the strengths and weaknesses of the various Chitosan products to ensure that the right product is chosen for the right application. It is also important to maintain a competitive edge by continuously researching and developing new products and technologies. Finally, it is essential to establish strong relationships with suppliers and customers to ensure a successful business. Market insight The global chitosan market is driven by the increasing waste from the seafood industry, the growing applications of chitosan, and government support for waste utilization. Shell waste is processed into chitin and other high-value products. Chitosan extracted from crustaceans such as crabs, shrimp, and lobster is widely used for reducing body weight due to its lipid absorption property. In addition, the rising demand for Chitofelx in hemostatic dressings because of its anticoagulant properties is expected to drive the market growth. Moreover, the growing demand for bio-based cosmetic products is also expected to propel the market growth during the forecast period. However, the high cost of bulk production for water treatment may hinder this market growth. Nevertheless, the increasing number of new sources for commercial chitosan, such as fungi, snails, and other molluscs, may replace the conventional sources, such as crab and shrimp, in case of shortages of marine waste. The easy availability of fungi waste in agriculture and the artificial production of fungi through cheap nutrients via simple chemical procedures may create lucrative opportunities for the chitosan market growth. 4. Classification of the Chitosan Market https://preview.redd.it/bfci1ehqhy2b1.png?width=1644&format=png&auto=webp&s=5f9a4ddb6821909e938f6e1df75ace43d3b7dab9 Based on type Chitosan can be sourced from shrimp, prawns, crabs, lobsters, and fungi. Shrimp chitosan has the highest revenue share, due to its large demand for water treatment and in the food and beverage industry. It is biocompatible, biodegradable, and non-toxic, unlike other chemical products. Moreover, the easy availability of shrimp reduces the manufacturing cost, making Chitosan widely accessible and driving the market. The crab chitosan segment is expected to experience the highest growth, due to its increasing use in plantations to maintain soil biodiversity. Studies show that Chitosan-treated plants have a higher growth rate than untreated plants. For example, according to a report by the International Journal of Current Microbiology and Applied Sciences, the average height for 70% chitosan and 30% non-plants was 27.8 and 21.7 cm, respectively. Based on application Chitosan is widely used in water treatment, biomedical and pharmaceutical, cosmetics, food and beverage, and other applications. The water treatment segment held the highest revenue share due to its biodegradable nature and effectiveness in removing toxic materials, making it a preferred choice for water treatment plants compared to traditional methods, such as sand filtration. Additionally, the food and beverage segment is anticipated to witness steady growth driven by the increasing demand for chitosan to improve the quality and shelf life of agricultural, poultry, and marine food products. from - https://ojdata.com/reports/chitosan-market-634159/ 5. Analysis by Regions In terms of geography, the global Chitosan market is segmented into North America, Asia Pacific, Europe, South America, and the Middle East and Africa. Asia Pacific is the largest regional market, and is forecasted to grow the fastest due to the booming end-use industries in Japan, China, India, and South Korea. The government support for biobased products and the recognition of the product’s benefits are driving the regional demand for Chitosan. For example, in Korea, chitooligosaccharides and glucosamine are deemed safe for dietary supplements, and in Japan, it is listed on the food additives list. Japan is one of the major producers and consumers of Chitosan due to the abundance of raw material and the early recognition of its benefits. submitted by WKInformation to MarketReport_News [link] [comments] |
2023.05.30 07:53 PrinceJustice237 What’s a fic or fics you read when you were young that you didn’t fully “get” until you were older?
I’ve been reading and writing fanfic before I even hit double digits so I’ve seen some shit, but there’s one fic I’ve only gone back to and understood recently.
Picture this - it’s way back in 2010, and I’m turning 10 myself in less than a month. The Alvin and the Chipmunks live action movies are still new and “hip” so the fandom on FF.net is flooded with innocent kids like me. I see a fic with an interesting, innocent looking title and click on it.
It’s about Alvin getting some magic wishing powder and wishing to have a magic tray in front of him that will always have food on it. Okay, but he also wishes that he WILL gain weight every time he eats (not sure why he’d even need to wish for that specifically because the food on his magic tray is always pizza and burgers and stuff, he’d be gaining weight without trying anyway) and that people around him will help him around without noticing or commenting on his extra weight. The fic goes out of its way to specify he blows up until he weighs 900 pounds and his clothes don’t fit anymore, with detailed descriptions of his butterball body.
As a kid, I was like “wtf that was weird”.
Coming back to it as an adult, and seeing the author’s only other fic was about Theodore getting really fat from eating a bunch of junk food (though without the help of magic wishing powder) … I realised that child me bore witness to some young author exploring their awakened feederism kink.

2023.05.30 06:54 adrake86 Downgrading from 2 cars to one...looking to upgrade the truck? Suggestions needed.
Looking for a "newer" truck with a bit more creature comforts. I am selling two other cars to downgrade to just one full size truck to save a bit of money / insurance / etc.
What I needed:
- Something that will tow travel trailer 8k dry weight local (in state) maybe once or twice a month.
- Vehicle will be used for a work majority of time with a good bit of travel in and around Georgia.
- Need room for car seat.
- Prefer 2WD as it will tow more.
- The best MPG for a full size truck possible would be highly sought after...of course that will be the hardest.
- Cheapest most reliable half ton that can tow and get decent MPG. (kind of impossible to find) but that is what I prefer.
Budget max 40k possibly 45k. New or used.
Considering the following:
Chevy 1500 - V8 or that half ton Duramax version. Ram 1500 - V8 (I like the rebel but open to any model) Ford 3.5 Ecoboost
Open to anything....

2023.05.30 04:17 smalldikdik Used Car Help
Hi! I am in the market for a used suv. I currently drive a 2011 chevy Malibu, and I would like to upgrade as I have two dogs and lots of outdoor hobbies. :) So far, I have looked at, and considered, the Mazda CX-5, Subaru Forester, Toyota Rav-4, Honda CR-V. I want decent fuel economy, AWD, and space to haul more than what I can currently. Any guides are helpful! Each of those cars have their strengths for sure, I’m looking to spend 12-16k for a car. Let me know your thoughts! Thank you.

2023.05.30 00:36 pjlee01 Institute and Faculty of Actuaries: the student dropout rate seems to be at least 40%, the Fellowship drop out rate below age 50 at least 15%
| I have carried out an analysis of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries' membership statistics going back as far as I can, from March 2005 to the end of February 2022, so the last 17 years. Sources used: the IFoA's published Annual Reports, consolidated financial statements, publications on "our members". Note that these are (the IFoA being a shower) not always consistent from one year to the next. Figures that are produced in one report are not necessarily produced in the next one, and the historical figures also change from time to time. And sometimes there are even significant differences between the Consolidated Financial Statements for year X and the Annual Report for year X! Example: 2019-20 Financial Statements says 688 new Fellows, 97 new Associates, but 2019-20 Annual Report says 1,120 new qualifiers (Fellows + Associates)??( Repeat after me: what is the IFoA? A shower) . I have taken the latter figure as it looks more consistent with the figures for the adjacent years 2018-2019 and 2020-2021). And in particular, why the blazes did the IFoA stop publishing the number of new students from the new CEO's arrival in January 2020 onwards? Why are they hiding these? Nevertheless it is becoming increasingly clear to me that the student dropout rate has been of the order of at least 40%, and the Fellowship dropout rate (i.e. the percentage of Fellows who leave the IFoA before age 50 (i.e. to other work - or to continue doing actuarial work without being subject to "all the rigmarole of the IFoA" as the current IFoA President in a Freudian slip put it rather well, since the IFoA admitted last year that 90% of Fellows don't need to be a member to do their work) has been at least 15%. Caveats: as you can see from my comments above, the IFoA are sloppy and put in what look to be clearly wrong or inconsistent figures from time to time, several of the figures are missing so I have had to resort to interpolation. As before, the IFoA really should either commission and publish an independent study, or even better: publish the full data so that people can do the calculations themselves. IFoA membership information from published annual reports (v1) IFoA Students, Associates and Fellows New Fellows as a percentage of a) total students, b) new students 6 years earlier Notice that the number of new fellows each year is between about 4% and 7% of the total number of students. If what the IFoA said over the period was true ("it takes 3 to 6 years to qualify"), then in a steady state you would expect the number of new fellows to be about 100% of the number of new students 6 years earlier. Instead it is below half of it. You would also expect the number of new fellows to be about 1/6th (or about 17%) of the number of total students, but instead it is about a third of that. NB: the use of the number of students 6 years earlier includes an allowance for the fact that membership has been growing rather than being in a steady state. This already gives us a strong clue that about half the number of students drop out. In columns N and O I have calculated the implied exits from Fellows (i.e. from leaving the IFoA, retiring or dying) and from Students [ after deducting the number of new Fellows who must come from Students] (i.e. from leaving the IFoA, since the number of deaths and retirements is likely to be very small- and if they transferred to Associate or Affiliate they would still be a member). I have calculated the implied average dropout rates over the whole period in cells M2-M4. Because the IFoA used to - helpfully - (under the current CEO and Management Board Chair they stopped doing this: why? again hiding information?) publish statistics of membership by age (in 5 year age groups - showing by individual age would be better), I have also been able to carry out a longitudinal study, comparing cohorts of students and fellows 5 years later. Fellowship dropout rate from longitudinal study IFoA Fellows by Age Comparing the actual populations 5 years later with those expected ignoring new Fellows for each of the starting populations of 2008, 2009 and 2010 shows us the net new entrants (positive figures which must be from new fellows less leavers) in each 5 year age group: Changes in the age distribution over 5 years for periods ending 2013, 2014 and 2015 We can see from the positive bars in the earliest age groups (with midpoints 23, 28, 33 and 38) the likely relative numbers of the new Fellows in those age groups. The implied average age at qualification of the new Fellows was 30.5, implying a mean qualification time of around 8 to 9 years during 2006 to 2015. Now adding in the total number of new Fellows during each 5 year period, weighted in those age groups gives us the actual number of Fellows in those groups compared to the expected number: Actual versus expected numbers of Fellows in 2013 to 2015 allowing for initial population 5 years earlier plus new Fellows The implied Fellow dropout rate (i.e. Fellows leaving the IFoA below age 50) is 17% during this period (more if we allow for growth in membership, so that the 450 leavers are likely to have come from a smaller number of new Fellows than the 2,691 on average during 5 year periods starting from 2008 to 2010). Student dropout rate from longitudinal study IFoA students by age The average student dropout rate over the 5 year periods (End Feb) 2008- (End Feb) 2013, 2009-2014 and 2010-2015 was 40% Overall, there are 4,109 fewer students than expected, compared to 10,233 new joiners during the average of the three 5 year periods (starting 2008, then 2009, then 2010). This is an average student dropout rate of 40%. (More if we allow for growth in student members: those dropping out are likely to have joined earlier from a smaller cohort of new students). As ever, if anyone thinks I have missed anything, please let me know! Thanks. submitted by pjlee01 to Actuary_news [link] [comments] |

2023.05.29 15:42 LonnieJay1 Storytime: becoming a dope boy
I sit, waiting for the hangover nausea to go away enough that I can get up and get some water and try to keep playing basketball. My phone rings. It’s a random number. I answer it, as I always do.
"Hello?"
“Yo, what up, Lambo," a male voice answers, on the other end of the line. His voice is unmistakable, and only one person calls me Lambo. Johnny.
“Oh, shit. What's up, Johnny? You finally went down, huh,” I say, referring to the 18-month jail sentence he got at the beginning of last summer. He couldn’t stop selling drugs, let alone partying.
“Yeah, it was nothing though. Just a quick sit down. I'm free now, no more papersss,” he says, in a sing-songy voice, referring to the fact that he’s off probation now.
“No way. I’m off papers, too,” I say.
“Yo, what? For real?” he asks.
“Yup. They transferred my probation to Baltimore, and the city let me off early while I was down there,” I say.
“You lucky motherfucker. Come to my G-mas. She still lives next to the gas station on (Street name redacted). I’m here now," he says, excitement building in his voice. I can hear his smile through the phone.
“Ahhh-” I start.
“Let's blaze,” he interrupts. “I got tree and blunts, and I know you got the cut whip,” he says, referring to the fact that I always drive when we smoke. “Let’s roll a bleezy, bump some Biggie, hit some back roads, and catch up," he continues. His personality is contagious, especially when he is excited – and he is excited. I haven't smoked in so long, and I'm so hungover.
“Yo, lemme call you back,” I say.
“Don’t be like that, bro. I’ve been down for 18 fuckin’ months, locked up like some kind of animal. I’m back, now, though, baby, and better than ever! I’ve been lifting and all that. Wait ‘til you see me. I can even play ball a little bit, now. Come through!” he exclaims.
“Lemme call you back,” I say.
“You’re disappointing me, Lambo. Both of us are finally off papers, and you’re really not gonna come through and chill?” he asks, trying to guilt-trip me, as he often does.
“Bro. Let me call you the fuck back, alright?” I say.
“Nah. Don’t call me back. I’ll be outside my grandma’s. See you when you get here,” he says. I start to laugh.
“Jesus, bro. I’ll call you back,” I say, through my laughter.
“If you call me back, I’m gonna ignore it,” he says, not laughing.
“Alright, I’ll talk to you when you answer my call,” I say.
“That isn’t funny. I just got free. You’re the first person I called. Don’t be fucking around-”
I hang the phone up and put it down on the bleachers next to me. I forgot how relentless and convincing Johnny can be.
Some weed smoke would clear your hangover right up, though, Lonnie. And you haven't seen your old friend in forever. You used to love hanging out with him, even if he can be a moron sometimes. Just one blunt, that’s all.
Yeah, ok. All the sudden, I can just smoke one time?
You’ve been drinking socially for 4 months, Lonnie. You only drink on the weekends, and you haven’t blacked out one time. You’ve had plenty of opportunity to smoke weed at the parties you’ve been to, and you never have. Not even once, not even one hit – not even when it was offered for free.
I can figure this out. I sit on the bleachers and continue to think.
I can smoke with Johnny once. We will smoke and chill and catch up, and then I’ll bid him farewell and go back to living my life smoke-free. In fact, maybe I can smoke with him and then quit drinking completely, too. Even if I can control my drinking, it isn’t helping me play basketball better. It can be fun sometimes, but it isn’t worth this horrible hungover feeling. Whatever I do, I just can’t do opiates – and if Johnny even brings them up, I’m getting the fuck out of there.
I stand up, collect my things, and head out to my car.
30 minutes later.
“I’m telling you, bro. We’re set,” Johnny says, a huge grin on his face.
“You really met that many connects in there?” I ask. He stops smiling.
“I’ve never been a bullshitter, Lambo,” he says.
“Now, that’s bullshit,” I say, and we both start to laugh. I forgot how good it feels to smoke weed – and I can’t believe I don’t have to answer to a probation officer or talk to a drug counselor or anything of the sort.
“For real, though. I met connects in there you can’t even imagine. Anything we want, I can get it. Anything we want to sell, I can hustle it. Guaranteed. Bet money,” he says, holding his hand out to me, his jaw clenched, dead serious. I look down at his hand and then look away from him.
“I’ve been out of the game for a long while, man. I told you, I’ve been off opiates for over a year now. I barely even drink, and I’m not really trying to start smoking again. I don’t want to make a habit out of it,” I say.
“Oh, come on, Lambo. What happened to you? This is Mary Jane we’re talking about! I’m not talking about selling dope or anything crazy like that, just moving a little tree. You know my brother gets pounds-”
“Ay, man, for real. It’s good to see you and I respect the hustle but I’m not trying to get involved in all that again. I’m about to have my old charges expunged and finally have a clean background. I’m trying to start a legit career as a sign language interpreter,” I say, though just that thought alone makes my heart start to race.
“Man, fuck that. Didn’t you say they escorted you out of a school like some kind of rapist when you tried to get an interpreting job?” he asks. I scoff and think back to that day. They did exactly that. I was interpreting at a middle school for the first 3 days of the school year in 2010, after I graduated.
They allowed me to start working while they were processing my background check. I’ll never forget the way the administrators came into the class that I was in and literally escorted me out of the building when my background check came back. I’ll never forget the looks on their faces – like I was some kind of murderous piece of shit.
“Your badge has been disabled, by the way, so don’t try to get back in here,” that administrative lady said, before she closed the school doors behind me.
I’ll never forget that feeling. I had been doing alright for a little while, and that job was really helping me to stay clean. I was bonding with that little middle school deaf kid. He was starting to warm up to me, I could tell.
I wonder what they told him. Did they tell him that I was a criminal, and I was too dangerous to be around him?
I got high on opiates the very next day.
“And didn’t you say you tried to get another interpreting job, and they hired you, but then they stopped the paperwork when you mentioned you had pending drug charges-”
“Yeah, well, I don’t have pending charges anymore. I’m getting all that shit expunged – destroyed, like it never happened. And I’m not trying to get new charges, you hear me?” I say, turning to face him, staring into his eyes with hardness, which is what I have to do to get through to Johnny, and a skill I finally learned in Baltimore. He laughs.
“Jesus, buddy, slow your roll. I see you’re still as sensitive as ever,” he says.
“I’m not sensitive, I’m just not trying to be a dipshit. I finally got out of that probation trap. I’m really not trying to get stuck in that quicksand again,” I say.
“That’s fine. Nobody is talking about getting arrested,” he says.
“Alright, then,” I say.
“There’s this one dude that I met in there. Russ. He gets big dope – like, BIG dope-”
“Yo, what did I just say?” I ask, throwing my hands up, exasperated.
“Let me finish. He needs a weed connect, and I told you, my brother gets pounds. We could-”
I get up from the 3-foot concrete wall that separates the gas station from Johnny’s grandmas’ tiny apartment complex.
“You’re really starting to piss me off, dude,” I say, not looking at him.
“Lonnie. We’re just talking about what we can do with some of the connects I met in jail, that’s all,” Johnny says, using the tone he uses when he’s trying to calm me down.
“Stop saying ‘we’. There’s no ‘we’ in this. YOU went to jail. YOU met this guy, Russ. YOU have a weed-dealing brother,” I say, turning around to face him again.
“Right. You know all those dope dealers love weed. Russ said he could bring weight back to Baltimore, to the dudes that sell him his dope. You know my brother gets the weed cheap, and Russ said he could trade the weed for dope to make more money off of it. He’d be moving the shit quick, and he’s for real. I wouldn’t even have to deal with anybody else,” he says. I turn around and start to walk away from him, not wanting to sit down again.
“That sounds like a great idea. Great way to get robbed by some dude you were locked up with-”
I stop talking when I hear gravel crunching behind me. I turn around and find Johnny standing there, looking enraged.
“You’re really pissing me the fuck off. I’m trying to help us make money. I don’t even have to bring you in on this, but I’m trying to because you’re my boy. But I guess I’m not your boy. I should’ve known that. You never sent me one letter while I was locked up. 18 months, not one letter. You’ve always been selfish as fuck. Just get out of here, dude,” he says, shaking his head at me.
“Johnny. My bad. I’m just… I don’t want to get arrested again. I don’t want to wind up back on oxy or dope,” I say.
“You think I do?” he asks, scrunching his face at me with disbelief. I avert my gaze away from him and start to pace. Johnny sits back down.
Maybe he’s right. Maybe there’s a way I can get in on his hustle and make some money without having to get my hands dirty – work as a kind of accountant or business manager, since that’s where Johnny is lacking in the game. He needs a numbers guy, and that’s what I am. I sit back down next to Johnny.
His father passed away from cancer when he was a teenager. Johnny is the spitting image of him; they look identical. Johnny has been all fucked up ever since he lost his father, which was the catalyst for his opiate addiction. He isn’t a bad kid. He’s funny and outgoing and he does care deeply about his loved ones.
“My bad, man. I should’ve wrote to you,” I say, quietly.
“It’s all good,” he responds, also quietly. A few moments pass in silence.
“Who else did you meet in there?” I ask, quietly.

By this time, he’d fired Gutierrez over the Asia letters and he’s being represented by a public defender he doesn’t really know. Adnan tells the guy [Dorsey] he wants to tell the court he did not kill Hae and that he is going to continue to fight this until the end. So, he's going to have Krista come visit, and tell Krista - in person - what to ask Stephanie. Then Krista will reach out to Stephanie via email, and act as a go-between Stephanie and Adnan. The PI never spoke to her, but her fiance made it very clear, in a very nasty way that suggested an anti-Muslim prejudice, that Asia would not be involved and to leave them alone . . . Faced with a tough decision, [Justin Brown] decides to submit [Asia's] letters but not subpeona her for the appeal hearing.

2023.05.29 05:44 DumbstruckApe Name of brake hose
Chevy Malibu 2011. My brakes don't work and it looks like I have a ruptured steel braided hose leaking brake fluid. I'm trying to find the name of the part. The steel braided hose is part of a series of hoses that connect the brake fluid reservoir to the ABS unit. There are hard lines then the steel hose then more hard lines.
If anyone knows what this part is called, I'd greatly appreciate it. Can I just replace the steel braided hose or do I need to replace the entire assembly of lines?
Thanks in advance!

2023.05.29 05:13 BinghamL Wife and I want to power our DH MTBs, aiming for lots of performance, but have some concerns.
Hi guys,
My wife and I both have top of the line (for the 2010 era) DH MTBs ready to receive some power. Full suspension (room for batteries), hydraulic disc brakes, fox shocks, all those goodies.
We've ridden rental radbikes that were capped at 750W and they left a lot to be desired in terms of power. I'll have to be able to cap my builds there via the controller to keep it legal where required in my state.
That said, I plan to mainly ride on property where this cap is not a concern. When riding there, I want near dirt bike acceleration and top speed up to about 30-35mph. I don't want to go much faster than that on a bike, but I do want to be able to lift the front tire with the throttle starting out, maybe break traction at low speeds, stuff like that. Looking for a thrilling ride here, at lower speeds.
Here's the rub: I'm a big guy, 6'8 230lb. I'll need some serious power to get this done. The cyc gen 3 looks to have the oomph, but here's my main question:
- I realize this will be a lot of stress on the drivetrain. Aside from shift sensors, what upgrades should I be considering for keeping the drivetrain reliable? Open to replacing the whole drivetrain if needed for the build, but I do want to retain the ability to pedal.
Secondarily, I'm open to any other motor / drivetrain suggestions. I'm heavily leaning on mid drive over hub drive due to sprung weight vs unsprung, plus using gearing with a mid drive to maximize performance.
I've been googling but I'm having a hard time finding much beyond sites selling kits / motors. I want to do more research. Any builds you can point me to that sound like they might fit my list of requirements? I'd appreciate it!

2023.05.29 03:51 aleXANduurrr NEED HELP! 03 Chevy Malibu leaking coolant in a certain spot!!
| I am leaking radiator fluid, seems to be beneath the bleeder valve on my 2003 chevy malibu. I dont believe the head gasket is blown, theres no bubbles appearing in my coolant reservoir when the cars on, engine oil looks fine, and I drove yesterday for 3 miles and it didnt leak. But when I got home and turned the car off, it slowly starts to leak out that spot.... Why does it sometimes leaks out of that spot and what should I do to fix this?!?! submitted by aleXANduurrr to AskMechanics [link] [comments] |
