Hello! I've been wanting to get into free building with legos, my siblings and I had a bunch as kids but I currently only own one or two small ninjago sets, but I don't find it as fun to just follow instructions for a single finished product.
I was wondering if you all would have advice on the best sort of starter set of bricks someone should buy to get a good variety for not a lot of money? I don't want to invest a lot in it in case it becomes another one of my discarded hobbies haha. If it helps any, I would probably want to start off by making small buildings of different architectural styles.

I know that we are fighting the rising tide of bright headlights on a few different fronts, including Intensity, Color, and Distribution/Aiming. I want to take a moment to discuss and get feedback on Aiming.
I'm trying to understand the source of this problem and if it's a possible approach to forcing a solution. My outsider understanding of the auto industry is that EVERY vehicle is required by the manufacturer to undergo a Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) before it is handed over to the customer. My assumption is that the PDI is performed by the dealership (except in the case of brands like Tesla that do not have a dealership network.)
Of course, this varies by manufacturer, but it seems to me that the responsibility of ensuring that headlights are aimed should fall on the dealership since the vehicles' suspension components may "settle" in transit, invalidating the factory settings.

I've noticed that the reoccurring "Which brand is worst?" posts seem to get very mixed answers. Some of this could be a matter of opinion, but my theory is that there are a large number of dealerships that are not completing this step of their PDI and delivering vehicles to customers with improperly aimed headlamps. I'm sure the big OEMs would be VERY interested to know that their dealers are lying to them and the customers about having completed certain checks on a necessary piece of safety equipment (i.e. headlights), if this is somehow provable.

My question is: Is anyone able to share any insider information on whether aiming of headlights is on any manufacturers' current PDI checklist? And how could a new vehicle owner determine if this step was actually completed?

Welcome to the first part of my next Reverse Monolocke run. After successfully getting through the boring Dragon Reverse Monolocke in a difficulty hack, it’s time to finally do a Reverse Monolocke of a more interesting type. Namely, Fire-type!
The game I’ve chosen for this challenge is u/the_gerund’s favorite, FireRed. I’ll even be playing with the same Physical/Special Split patch they used! Since it won’t be randomized (aside from using UPR to allow impossible evolutions) I’ll be making some tough enemies of my Rival and Blaine.
These are my rules (which are closer to gerund’s rules this time): * Base nuzlocke rules. Dead is dead but blackout is not a game over. Battle type is SET. * Only Pokémon weak to a certain type are allowed. Pokémon who lack the weakness, but gain it on evolution are allowed. Pokémon who lose the weakness on evolution are prohibited from evolving. * One chance of catching per route (first encounter), but only valid Pokémon count as encounters. I can check Bulbapedia’s FireRed walkthrough to see whether or not a valid type appears on a route. * Kantonian Dupes Clause: Dupes Clause is only present if a new Pokemon appears in that area. If not, you're getting a duplicate. * Level cap is on par with each individual Pokémon of the next ‘boss battle’ (gym leaders, rival battles etc), with the exception of the problematic SS Anne rival battle. In case I have more Pokémon than the enemy, my excess Pokémon are lower than the enemy’s lowest Pokémon. In case I have fewer Pokémon than the enemy, I am allowed to add a level where I see fit for each Pokémon that I’m missing. * Shiny clause: any shiny that is weak to the chosen type may be caught and used no matter what. A shiny that does not have the weakness cannot be used but may still be caught and exchanged for either reviving a dead Pokémon or revisiting a previous route for another catch (all randomly determined). * In-game trades between two valid Pokemon are free game. In-game trades where the requested Pokémon is non-valid but the given Pokémon is valid may also be accepted, but I must “pay” a sum of money equal to the given Pokémon’s base stat total * its base xp yield. This will make sure the best Pokémon don’t come cheap. Examples: Bulbasaur 20K, Venusaur 123K, Magikarp 8K, Gyarados 102K, Dratini 18K, Dragonite 162K, Mewtwo 208K, Chansey 177K, Blissey 328K. It should be pretty rare to find a trade like this and pretty challenging to get 100K together to spend on it, so I think it’s fairly balanced. * Token rule, needed for rare types: For every route where I have to forfeit a catch because no valid type appears there, I get a token. 3 tokens can be spent to revisit a route where I know I can catch something. I can also use 2 tokens to catch in another subsection of a location (e.g. if Mount Moon has valid types on two floors and I missed a catch on Route 1 and 2, I can catch on two floors in Mount Moon). * If I manage to defeat Blaine I will roll a number for all of the Johto & Hoenn that share the chosen weakness and cannot be obtained normally. (Evolutions related to Kanto Pokemon do not count.) I will get a gift of that Pokemon (via PkHeX) to count as my Cinnabar Island encounter.
Starter Obviously there’s only 1 Starter that’s weak to fire, so Herb picked up Sage the Bulbasaur (male, Serious) while my rival Ash chose Charmander. About that Rival name: I had looked up synonyms for char and when I saw ash I just knew that would be the funniest Rival name. Feel free to imagine my rival as Gary wearing Ash’s (original) hat.
Sage easily survives the rival battle thanks to two Growls, though it took a lot of Tackles. BTW, his name comes from the new nickname theme, culinary herbs and spices.
Strengths and weaknesses If you’ve read my Weakness Type document you would have seen that the types I can use are Grass-, Bug-, Ice-, and Steel-types. Pokemon with one of those types and a sub-type of Fire, Water, Rock, or Dragon aren’t weak to Fire and therefore won’t be allowed.
Flying-types will be a huge weakness until I can get an elusive Ice- or Steel-type, but Water and Rock-types won’t stand a chance. Other than that, I’ll have plenty of status moves on hand to debuff my foes.
There will be plenty of Bug- and Grass-types available in the wild, but not as much of the other two types. Of the two Ice-types I’ll be able to use, one is clearly better than the other, while the three Steel-types are all equally great. Steel is my favorite type, so I’ll look forward to them~
Opportunities and expectations I'll go over all available evolutionary lines quickly:

Caterpie/Metapod/Butterfree: I’m excited to try gerund’s Sleep Powder+Dream Eater combo for the first time.

Oddish/Gloom/Vileplume/Bellossom: Great Special Attack.
Paras/Parasect: Weak to everything, but that ability to learn Dig could be useful.
Venonat/Venomoth: Psychic Bug... 2!!
Magnemite/Magneton: I’ll desperately need something to kill Flying-types.
Onix/Steelix: The Blaine Killer, mayhaps?
Exeggcute/Exeggutor: Tricky to use but that secondary-typing could be great.
Tangela: In desperate need of Tangrowth.
ScytheScizor: Way better than Beedrill.
Smoochum/Jynx: Bit of a glass cannon, but I’ll trade for her regardless.
Articuno: The only Pokemon Weak to Fire in Seafoam Islands.
Bellsprout/Weepinbel/Victreebel+Pinsir: LeafGreen Exclusives. Not in the Post-Blaine gift roll.
As for the Johto and Hoenn Pokemon...

Well, turns out I like the majority of the Johto and Hoenn mons for this run, so hopefully I roll a good one. I don’t plan on doing a gift like this in any future runs, so this one chance better not go to waste.
So, what are my expectations and hopes for this run? Probably a lot of death to Ash, but I’m also really excited to see what Blaine’s defeat might gift me. My original plan for the gift was for me to get a random Johto Pokemon after Lt. Surge and a random Hoenn Pokemon after Blaine, but two gifts seemed like one too many, so I decided to stick to one.

This is not medical advice. I just realized today that I'm sliding into unplanned life coping mechanisms under stress, and without a consistent Adderall supply (or quality--holy crap it's been shit quality recently) it's been extra shit. I wanted to sort of publicly hold myself accountable to what works best/put the info out there.
None of this is a replacement for proper medication/doctor treatment, and none of it is medical advice. Partially because lifestyle changes + needed medication are even better than only a single medication. And partially because fuck the system for freaking out and calling it paranoia for rationing controlled drugs in case the system suddenly stopped providing them (which, no surprise, it has. Repeatedly.)
Anyway. Here's what works for me even on days where I can't focus for shit and am just overwhelmed and tired, but still need to get the things done.
1) Binaural beats/brown noise. Good Lord god bless this shit. You obviously can't live your whole life with headphones on and loud weird fan beeping sounds in your ears (if for no other reason than that you'd go deaf while still having tinnitus god dammit), but 20 minutes of this helps everything recenter temporarily, at least enough to focus.
2) Priority list, quadrant style is best. Important/urgent, then urgent, then important. It's likely nothing else will get done so plan accordingly.
3) Go, the fuck, to sleep. Take the child's size melatonin 12 hours before you need to focus deeply again, do your bedtime routine, and get in the bed without your phone an hour after that. Go to extremes with screens not being on after 7 or even 6pm if you need to. No decisions after dark--if you're wondering if you need to go to bed, the answer is "yes immediately now now now". Keep a notepad and pen next to you to write down all the random shit you have to do first thing when you wake up that you totally forgot about into you laid down and now your brain is trying to remember. Let it fail, go to sleep.
4) bright light in the morning.
5) move. Stairs, walking, I don't know. Get up and move.
6) Calendar events for everything. Deadlines for everything.
7) Dedicated "this is my time to do literally nothing" time. Even ten minutes.
8) "I only need to do this for one minute and then I can stop" kick-starts for tasks that are super fucking boring and aren't hurting anyone to leave undone but are also important.
9) Be kind to yourself.
10) Remember that no one is doing it all. If they think they are, it's only because they're not thinking about it. Simplify your life so that it works best for you (this looks different for everyone, but you can see it even in people you might be comparing yourself to. Same breakfasts every day, same grocery lists every week, same clothing. Simplify your life until it's easy and then add back in as it works for you. It's okay to lean into having an off-work uniform. It's okay to throw out and mismatched socks and only buy ones that are all the same color. It's okay to put your grocery list on subscription reorder. Focus on what actually matters.
11) Do binaural stimulation: games, sports, play an instrument, whatever.
12) Go talk to people or even just exist around them, whether that's in person or on line, for body doubling AND regulation. I've been around enough ADHD people to know that a group of us together, in any environment where you're hanging out or even better, working together on something, have basically all visible symptoms disappear. Our communities are not set up for this. We do not encourage this as a default in American society. Go do it anyway. It's not normal to live in isolation and I think ADHDers feel that effect really quickly. It's not normal to be able to regulate your brain without other humans. We are communal beings. Find people where you can do that in a positive way, and be a positive force in that community.

Basically, I had a fraud charge of $60 tagged under a delivery service that I have never put my card details into. I noticed it 3 days after and blocked my card for a week to see if I can handle the issue with the company itself. They said the transaction was not in their system so I called the bank if they could open an investigation and replace my card.
Went into the branch, got it replaced, and within 4 days after having the new card I get spammed with 5 new transactions totaling up to $600 flagged under the same delivery service. I have not once used my debit card or entered the details of it into anything within the 4 days, I was still using my credit card.
I went straight to the bank an hour after I saw the transactions and asked them to block the account and open an investigation. The thing is though, the teller ended up closing the account and an investigation wasn't open for 3 days until I called in to get an update.
I went into a different branch to see if I could get things handled but I could recognize that the teller was also very new and the manager wasn't even sure what to do at first. She tried telling me I should call in to open an investigation but I was like isn't that why I'm here?? Eventually, she ended up setting my account to deposit only and she opened an investigation. I called in a day after to make sure that a case was ACTUALLY open and it's been a few days since the whole ordeal.
This entire situation has had me stressed. I thought someone had taken my identity and I was checking login attempt history, changing passwords, scanning all my devices (even resetting them), and checking if anyone opened any new accounts but I was completely clear on my end. I find it odd that TD didn't immediately recognize the charges or notify me at any point. If anyone has any advice on the situation please let me know.

Hi all,
I'm wondering if a mushroom trip might cause a set-back or even a crash? I'm experienced with mushrooms and I'm not worried about the emotional side, I did it in worse mental states and it was always helpful. I will lay in bed and just meditate but I think it might be very intense for the body, processing all the emotions and impressions.
Here is my situation:
I needed a long time to understand what my condition was, what crashes are etc. I got a severe burn-out from taking wrong hormones (misdiagnosis of disease I don't have) with insomnia and lots of stress for 4 years. I started crashing more and more. In the end a day in the sun or a longer walk led to a crash with 1-2 weeks in bed. I was bedridden for many months and have now a diagnosis of CFS (before it was burn-out, adrenal fatigue, hpa axis dysregulation).
Now I'm better, I have energy in the morning and can work/focus 3-5 hours. It fades during noon and then I have to take things slow. In the evening I can hardly focus or do anything anymore if I didn't nap. I can tolerate long walks (2-4h) and very light gym sessions without a crash (but exhaustion afterwards) and didn't crash for half a year.
I would love to do a trip because of the powerful mental healing capabilities which I experienced in the past, but am afraid of crashing again. Anyone any experience in a similar condition? What do you think? I plan to try microdosing first.

This take is definitely coming from a biased perspective because I am a sucker for surreal media, which includes the likes of David Lynch. I know people complain about his films for being nonsensical and confusing for the sake of being being confusing, but I think that can't be further from the case, because while his films are definitely strange and confusing, there is a clear underlying message that is being portrayed, even if it may not be obvious from the first viewing. For example, Eraserhead doesn't have a monstrous looking baby for the sake of throwing in a monstrous looking baby - it is to represent the main character's fear of becoming a parent.
Another aspect of surreal media that I love is how often it works on dream-logic, which is the kind of nonsensical logic of your dreams or nightmares that makes perfect sense while you are dreaming but don't make sense as soon as you wake up. My favorite surreal movies or shows makes me feel like I am looking at someone else's dream, where even if things don't make sense, they are manifested by certain unconscious fears or desires.
This is where The Polar Express comes in, which is way different from stuff by David Lynch not only because its a kid's film, but because its surreal qualities are most likely not intentional, but rather the cause of poor writing. Yes I know, hate me all you want, but you should at least admit that The Polar Express is a subpar film that, depending on your age, you are biased towards because you grew up on it. I am in that category, and I can simultaneously be fond of the film while also admitting that it is not a very good movie, but I was able to develop a newfound appreciation of it after analyzing it as a dream-like film.
Some people might argue that this film feels like a dream because most of it IS a dream, but the ending with the bell kind of gives away that the whole experience was real. But in addition to that, the uncanny valley design of the characters is present throughout the entire movie, even outside of the train or the north pole. By analyzing this aspect of the movie through dream-logic, its almost as if your mind is creating a dream with what appears to be humans, but cannot perfectly mimic the exact patterns and behaviors of people in real life, kind of like how your mind can create new "people" by mashing up features from multiple irl people.
But the character designs aren't the only uncanny part of the film. A lot of actions made by some of the characters feel nonsensical compared to what someone in real life might do. Some examples includes the boy seeing the train arrive outside his house and his first instinct being to run outside to look at it in the dead of night, him trying to give the ticket to the girl in the next cart instead of just waiting until she comes back, or I don't know, going on top of a MOVING TRAIN IN A SNOWSTORM. These feel like things that no one would do in real life but would be perfectly fine doing in their dreams until they wake up and wonder why they thought that was a good idea.
The plot itself feels like some kind of compilation of self-contained little short stories rather than an overarching story. It starts off as a story about a boy who is having doubts about Santa, and then what follows includes storylines such as the boy trying to give the ticket to the girl, the engineers trying to fix the train, the kids getting lost in the north pole, and then it goes BACK to the boy having doubts about Santa and getting the bell. While the story has the overarching setting of the train and the north pole, it feels like a bunch of smaller plots one after another. I don't know about you guys, but that is exactly what my dreams feel like. While one of my dreams could have a singular location such as high school or some fantasy land, reflecting on it makes me realize that my "dream" was actually multiple dreams that lead into each other, but I didn't know that while I was asleep.
Besides that, there is just a bunch of outlandish things that happen in the movie either without explanation or without elaboration. There's the fucking hot chocolate song, the hobo that periodically shows up who switches from being antagonistic to being friendly at random, Billy and the girl having a musical number even though this movie isn't a musical, the lonely liminal space-like atmosphere of the north pole, and pretty much everything regarding the blimp and the skydiving elves trying to catch the star off the christmas tree. It's all such weird and comically bizarre gimmicks that I feel only the deep recesses of your mind could make up.
I know I am just overanalyzing the movie and that none of this was really intended by the directors. But the beauty of media analysis is that you can interpret movies on your own even if it is different from what the director says the movie represents - this is very popular with David Lynch movies. For me, The Polar Express is unintentionally a brilliantly surreal animated movie that feels like the fever dream of a kid who is obsessed with Christmas.

Daniel Symmes made two 3D porn films. They were released as a double feature in 1977. The first film is a 28-minute “featurette” called Experiments in Love! It’s a psychedelic sex romp that seems to target the 20-something horny stoner crowd, which, to be fair, is a pretty large crowd. The film begins with two shapely, young female scientists who are working on several sensual projects. The first project involves an ill-defined hypothesis that has something to do with monitoring sexual activity in a sorority. Then there is another project having to do with 3D porn movies and orgasms.
The two young ladies are assisted by a supercomputer named Ichiban (“number one” in Japanese) who, for reasons unknown, has a very bad Japanese accent. He switches his Ls and Rs, speaks in a high nasal voice, and generally stumbles through racist stereotypes that leave you wincing.
The bulk of the film consists of watching the two women make their movie. One is “wearing” a lab coat, if you can call having a lab coat on your shoulders with nothing on and your boobs hanging out “wearing” something. See figure below:
The lab assistant spends most of her time completely naked or in a see-through nightie. Between the two of them, the audience need never despair from a lack of boobs on screen.
The ladies mostly prance around the lab waving objects at the camera to dazzle the audience with 3D wizardry. My favorite is the low-angle shot of the half-naked assistant playing with a bright red yo-yo.
Experiments in Love! Is technically an experimental film. Symmes toys around with some unconventional editing and some odd cinematography. It doesn’t add anything to the eroticism of the film, but Experiments in Love! is slightly more creative than your average piece of smut. I must note that I was only able to view the 2D version, who knows what it would’ve been like with the special glasses.
There is one other “actor” in the film, the hunky, shirtless gardener. He’s got curly blonde hair and big broad shoulders. You’ll never guess why he is in the film. He innocently stumbles upon the girls, who hustle him into the lab for some psychedelic fun, or an approximation of psychedelic fun, or just something kinda weird.
During their sexual encounter, a dildo appears on screen. It is pointed right at the viewer. At such a foreshortened angle, it looks like some kind of fleshy bug or mushroom. Then it starts moving itself toward the camera, while a pink neon vagina surrounds it. Then the flashing lights and the colored oils start smooshing around on screen and off we go.
If you were appropriately stoned while viewing this film, it may have done more to terrify you than arouse you. In a climactic orgasm scene, all the scientific machinery explodes in a hail of smoke and sparks as everybody moans in a gooey crescendo. Even Ichiban, the computer, squirts a jet of thick, white liquid out of its circuit boards.
Experiments in Love! is a soft-core amuse bouche to prep the audience for the full-length hardcore feature, Starlets. Starlets is not quite as experimental as Experiments in Love! but it still has a lot to offer. Instead of one sex scene after another, the film is punctuated by random montages that bounce from couple to couple in a disjointed array of different sexual encounters. If one were trying to use this film for self-gratification, it might have been a bit difficult to keep up with all the crosscutting.
Sadly, most of the psychedelics from the previous movie are gone, and with them most of the interest. There isn’t as much attention paid to the 3D aspect either, although there are a few moments that must have made the audience lurch backward in their seats for fear of being smothered by some fleshy body part.
There is one particular scene that needs to be noted. I have long bemoaned the porn industry’s obsession with brightly lit close-ups that feel more like gynecological exams than eroticism. Starlets goes ahead and features an actual vaginal exam, complete with tongue depressor. I suppose by virtue of their name, tongue depressors are probably not the first thing gynecologists reach for during an exam, but you get the point. I’m sure there is an internet forum for tongue depressor porn.
To be fair, for a 70s porn film, Starlets could have been worse. Even with the bad dubbing, they did manage a modicum of sexiness, but for those who make it to the end, there is a spectacular bonus.
The second-to-last scene takes place on a movie set. We watch through the camera as a woman dressed in gold lame appears on screen. She is some kind of cosmic entity and she has come to teach us about transcendent, life-affirming sex.
Shots of planets and sparks mingle with sex scenes as the narrator draws us in. She pontificates on the glory of love until, suddenly, the montage is interrupted and she warns us about those closed-minded individuals who would condemn sex. Then the images change to hokey, Halloween-inspired images of evil. The best one is a plastic dildo emerging from a smoke cloud while being attacked by a rubber snake.
The two films, Experiments in Love! and Starlet, were some of the first 3D porn ever produced, and actually made a minor splash in the industry. Usually, I have a certain level of regret after I waste an hour and a half on a terrible porn movie, but overall, I quite enjoyed my foray into the third dimension.

I couldn’t believe that he said it. My own brother, who I’d known for years as a kind, compassionate – and most importantly - accepting person. To my knowledge, he’d never said anything remotely critical of an entire group of people; had never once expressed a belief or even a joking sentiment of hatred or bigotry. And yet, in front of my best friend, he said the word: The one you just don’t fucking say.
Naturally, I tried to intervene. I pushed my brother away, apologizing to Jackson even as I advanced on my monumentally stupid sibling. My brother – Craig – then had the audacity to ask what my problem was, as if he hadn’t just said the word in front of Jackson, who’d never even so much as looked wrongly at Craig.
Behind me, Jackson tried to assure me that it was fine; that I didn’t need to react so strongly; that he was sure my brother hadn’t meant it. But as if he were going for an award in callousness – or perhaps just stupidity – Craig repeated it; this time with face-cringing emphasis on the G-sound.
I punched him – or at least I tried to. He’d anticipated it, moved out of the way just as my fist neared his face. I grazed his chin, and stumbled forward, eventually falling into the rain-filled curb. My brother laughed and danced around me, like a maniacal little imp.
Being my best friend, having always had my back regardless of the circumstance, Jackson stepped up. He shouted for my brother to back off and came to stand between him and me. Craig is twenty-five, two years older than me, but he’s much larger; built like a linebacker, even though he’s never played sports. Jackson is my age, but of a comparable build to my brother. Seeing them lock eyes, I was sure that there’d be a fight; that things would come to blows there in the street; but to my shock, my brother stepped back, and Jackson helped me up.
“You’d probably call your friends and have them jump me, anyway. Not worth it.”
I shouted, “That’s enough!” and told my brother to go home – that I was staying at Jackson’s tonight. I live with Craig in a house a few blocks away, and we’d met up with Jackson earlier in the day to see a classic horror movie at the theater in town.
Seeing as how Craig had had more than a few beers from the theater’s bar, we’d figured it was best if we walked home together. I wanted to believe that he was just drunk, that his unprompted derisive outburst was simply the result of a few too many movie-theater beers; but that word wasn’t something you just said, especially not around someone whose people were the primary targets of its derogatory usage.
Glassy eyed, with that wicked sneer still on his face, Craig glanced at the sky and said, “It’s getting pretty late. Moon’s coming out. Soon your friend here will be practically invisible in the dark. Unless he smiles.”
I was certain that I could actually feel the heat of Jackson’s blood boiling beside me. With clenched fists he told Craig to go home. With my temper already flared beyond reason, I flicked some of the water from my rain-sodden jacket onto Craig’s devilish face. He flinched, but stayed put; his grin even wider, now.
Even I wanted to fight him, but I knew that it’d be a fight I’d lose. So, I begrudgingly turned away and started walking toward Jackson’s house. He followed.
Just as we were about to round the corner to Jackson’s block, Craig called out, “Be careful, bro. You know how they are in their own neighborhoods. Stay inside once you get there.”
And that was it. Jackson stopped, did a 180-degree turn, and started full sprint toward Craig. By this time the moon had come out and was casting a large swathe of its marmoreal brilliance onto the street. Craig had entered the broad scope of light, ready to face Jackson head on. I followed, unsure of who to assist if things got really bad; but knowing that I’d let Jackson at least get a few good hits in before attempting to break them up.
Jackson entered the celestial spotlight and transformed.
His clothes practically exploded from his body, blown away to flimsy shreds as if nothing more than tissue paper. His muscles expanded with supernatural spontaneity; the thickly corded thews and tendons inflating to Herculean proportions, becoming almost sickeningly vascular. Dark sable fur sprouted from the overly taut flesh, blooming atop every exposed surface. The bestial transformation occurred in a matter of seconds, and then he was on Craig; who’d not so much as shifted in surprise.
Jackson howled monstrously as he mauled Craig. I couldn’t see my brother beneath the hulking horror, but I heard his half-crazed laugh. He was amused, or at least pretending to be. This only served to further enrage Jackson, who slashed and clawed at my brother with demonic fervor.
I’d never seen Jackson in such a state, had never witnessed a Lycanthropic transformation. The snarling beast he’d become was terrifying. And the thoughts I’d had of coming to his assistance were dashed upon the rocks of reality as he roared triumphantly to the moon, my brother’s blood glistening on his ultra-canine face.
Craig had stopped laughing and was now insensibly gurgling on his own blood. His eyes – distant and bloodshot – came to meet mine, and I prayed that he was still acting; still taunting Jackson, now with feigned weakness. I’d been pissed at Craig, but I didn’t want him dead.
Thankfully, I was right. With a glottal chuckle and almost imperceptible swiftness, Craig sat up, gripped Jackson by the waist, and suplex’d him onto the sidewalk. There was a horrible crunch of bone, and Jackson let out a loud whine; like a dog struck with an unexpected kick. Craig deftly rolled away and regained his composure – his throat and most of his chest still hanging in bloody ribbons through his tattered shirt.
Dazed but by no means deterred, Jackson reoriented himself and leapt once more. Craig casually stepped aside, and I was suddenly face-to-face with that abominable werebeast.
There was a moment of horrific awe – of grotesque spectacle, and then terror sank my heart like a stone. My brother and I are what most would refer to as vampires. We are far more durable and physically capable than the fittest of humans, but werewolves are even more formidable. And Jackson is an exceptional genetic specimen of his kind.
He towered over me, with intermixed streams of saliva and blood trailing from his wide maw. A savage, supernumerary arrangement of teeth promised a death of untold agonies; and eyes blood-red with feral hatred assured me that that death would not come quickly. I held up my hands, hoping that in his lunar-enhanced state he’d still recognize me; would still show mercy to the one who’d been his friend for nearly two hundred years of standard human time.
He sniffed, examining me with flared, steaming nostrils; and then mercifully turned away. Relief washed away some of the terror that practically incapacitated me; but I was still frozen in place; more petrified than a fatally curious victim of Medusa.
Again, Jackson charged at Craig, only this time my brother met the ferocious challenger head-on. They locked in mid-air and came crashing down onto the street, where they proceeded to engage in the most brutal, blood-letting melee I'd ever seen. Throats were slashed; muscles were torn from limbs; teeth broken and scattered. It was midnight ultra-violence, darkly accompanied by fiendishly inhuman shrieks, screams, and growls. Dogs and other things howled supportively or antagonistically, and a few porch lights flicked on – but no one dared to come out.
Finally, things came to a grisly end when my brother – doubly delimbed and thoroughly eviscerated – kicked Jackson’s jaw clean from his skull, eliminating his most lethal method of attack. Already severely debilitated by my brother’s dexterous use of kicks, and his outright surgical employment of elongated nails, Jackson finally surrendered. He scampered away into the shadows, whining wolfishly. Craig, more than likely as tired as his opponent, nodded in acceptance.
Spurts of steam and bloody mist blew skyward, signaling Jackson’s detransformation. He re-entered the circle of moonlight naked, but otherwise unharmed – his wounds having healed in the process. Craig’s regeneration would be much slower, but none of his still-bleeding wounds were fatal – at least not to a vampire. They’d both sustained injuries that would’ve killed a human three times over.
In a moment of battle-induced sobriety, Craig extended his hand. Jackson accepted the peace offering and they shook as gentlemen.
Craig, regaining a mischievous glint in his eye, then said: “I'm sorry for calling you a mongrel. I know I shouldn’t use that word, but I’d never fought a werewolf before, and really wanted to –after the movie we’d just watched. I figured you’d be my best opportunity, and knew that the only way to make you really go hard would be to say the M word.”
Jackson laughed, the hoarse tiredness of his voice making him sound a little too close to his other self for my liking. He told Craig that it was fine, that the fight was fun. But that going forward, he’d only need to ask – wouldn’t have to throw slurs around.
Craig responded, “sounds good, haha.” and then they both turned to me, as if I’d have something to add to their newfound brotherhood. I just said that I was tired, and joked about how I’d probably need a new change of underwear, after what I’d seen.
Together, we headed to Jackson’s house and – for the fun of it – re-installed Bloodborne.

I literally just lost a game because I could not see my character under a cloud of green numbers. I've found the game is just absolutely littered with visibility issues like this, and there is some effort to help with the issues, but... to be absolutely frank, most of the options are fucking awful.
Highlighting your character doesn't ACTUALLY highlight your character. It puts a colored circle below you that is drawn behind EVERYTHING. When things get hectic, it might as well not even be there. Highlighting the projectiles darkens the edges of the bullets, which I find makes it harder for me to see where they are clearly. Turning off Visual Effects and Damage display doesn't get rid of all of the combat-related numbers (i.e. your healing or the resources you pick up). I would argue that highlighting weapons is the best visibility feature since the weapons are typically drawn above most things, but they aren't drawn above those damn healing and money numbers.  
Does anyone know of any .ini settings or mods which increase the visibility of this game and make it less of a visual cluster-fuck?

I want to get the best price for the S23 Ultra, but does anyone see the pricing more like a shell game? It feels like samsung settles on a range (perhaps $650-$750) and will add/remove incentives to meet the target. This means one month there will be "enhanced trade in" but less taken off the base price. The next month will be regular trade ins, but 5% off the phone. Another month will have no discounts but a "free" memory upgrade. As time goes on, the final price doesn't appear to budge outside the pre-set range. If you are on a yearly upgrade cycle, would this mean the best time to buy the phone would be as soon as it comes out? I want a discount but with every day that goes by, it is closer to the next release date. And, even if you wait a whole year, you are penalized with reduced trade-in values which translates to "paying" for the year anyway. Am I completely off base? Is there an ideal time to buy/trade in a phone?

100% is too small. 150% is okay for 4K 27-inch monitor, but it’s too huge for me.
Windows scaling is set to 125%, so setting 100% in DaVinci Resolve should scale it to 125% I think, but it doesn’t. It doesn’t respect the OS’s scaling factor.
Anyway to fix this?
That DaVinci Resolve shortcut workaround doesn’t change anything on my system.
The developers should add a 125% option, 50% jumps are too huge.
