2023.03.22 16:18 Interesting-Fashion Going to the office for our quarter meeting, dress code requirements below
| So my company is a tech company that has a casual dress code but.... No showing the shoulders, no deep necks, modest hemlines, no thin straps, etc. I won't debate the dress code here but much of my wardrobe violates it. I'm curious what you think about this dress? Going to either wear these heels or ankle booties. submitted by Interesting-Fashion to BusinessFashion [link] [comments] |
2023.03.22 16:17 Reddit_Shoes Fidelity Personalized Indices
Has anyone actually tried these? I signed up for the free trial, and I like it so far except for a few quibbles (for some reason, there’s no automatic option to invest more money at the current market-weighting, for example - even though that would take about 5 minutes to implement in Java or whatever they have written their code in). What I tried to start off was to select the top 50 from that Schwab index fund everyone seems to reflexively worship. Then I filtered out the regional banks and the companies I have an ethical problem with, such as the tobacco ones and Pfizer. Replaced them with high quality international stocks like ASML, Novo Nordisk, and a few US stalwarts like AVGO. Fees of $5/month end up negligible once you have a decent amount of money in there.

2023.03.22 16:09 JustTryingMyBestWPA I Walked off the Job on My First Day on the Floor over the Dress Code
This was November 2002, so maybe it was before some of you Redditors were born? Anyway, I was a few years out of college, and I already had a full time 9-5 M-F job in the insurance industry. I applied for a seasonal job at B&BW because I figured that I could throw the extra money at my student loans and get an employee discount.
I did the 2 or 4 or whatever hours of training, no problem.
My first day on the floor, I showed up wearing what I thought was the uniform, which was khaki pants and a white sweater. Except, the manager told me that I couldn't wear that. She said that the sweater that I was wearing was cream, not white. So, I went down the hall in the mall (the local mall still had actual stores back then) and bought a $20 shirt off of the rack in the sparse plus size section. I returned. The manager said no to that shirt also, because it was also cream and not white.
I said, "You know what, this isn't going to work" and I walked out of the store. I returned the $20 shirt back to the store where I bought it. I received a paycheck in the mail about 2 weeks later for the 4 hours of training or whatever that I did. I think that it was about $20. I couldn't go into that B&BW store after that, but that's okay because I saved money and also I moved away from that city about a year after this happened.

2023.03.22 15:13 Infernape955 [LFA] Dante, the cosmic Wizard and former Witch
| Dante is a chrono magician, capable of altering time and space. His magic combines the power of his bloodline, the culture of his coven of witches, and his intelligence for magic. His brother, Virgil, after a powerful blood moon ritual ended with his soul trapped in the form of an owl. Due to their sibling connection Dante was able to link it as his familiar and then escaping from the coven with an ancient book of shadows that in parts cannot be read. The book holds powerful ancient spells, runic magic, and voodoo that the boy fervently tries to decipher. Dante is 17 years old and identifies as an asexual boy. His best friends are books and good infusions. He has a happy character despite his misfortunes, but he does not tolerate injustice and is very reactive with enchantment magic. He hates that branch of magic and believes that it is the darkest of all, even more than necromancy. After the escape from his coven, he wandered the streets of a utopian city where he was given asylum and protection from his coven, at least temporarily. In the world, the gods do not exist, they are not venerated, but the boy has his pagan beliefs deeply rooted. This connects directly to the missing gods, his ancestors stalking him to run his course as heir leader of the coven, and a new entity seeking to end everything known. https://preview.redd.it/hhatq1sitapa1.png?width=1200&format=png&auto=webp&s=73176bde94d38408b34af43f53676d65839c1353 submitted by Infernape955 to characterdrawing [link] [comments] |

2023.03.22 14:48 live_rabbits Insider Trading Weekly Update #031: A(nother) Buffett of Oil Financial Sector Insiders Buy Bank Shares in Droves Insider Trading Recap
| GM, TL;DR - Buffet and Icahn cannot get enough oil. While Buffet drove the majority of purchases by injecting $466M into $OXY, Icahn sunk further into Southwest Gas ($SWX) with a handful of buys amounting to $26.58M. Interestingly enough, it seems that the Fed’s decision to backstop Silicon Valley Bank may have influenced insider buying activity by insiders from banks. There are a few details that jump out in today’s update: - The Top 5 Percent Increases in Shares Owned came from regional/local banks
- The CEO of Charles Schwab bought $2.96M
- The CFO of Charles Schwab bought $289K
- The CFO of East West Bancorp ($EWBC) bought $495K
- The Buy/Sell ratio for the Financials sector was 3.1 ($61.3M buys / $19.6M sales)
- 150 insiders from the Financials sector purchased shares - 6.9x more than the sales
- $18M of C-Suite transactions came from the Financials sector - the highest overall
It might simply be a coincidence, though I have a gut feeling that this is tied to the recent turmoil in the financial sector. It seems that there could be increased confidence among corporate insiders that Jerome will step into either lower rates or bail out banks if others go under due to insolvency. Would love to hear your views on the buying activity in the Financial sector. We’ll see what happens later today in the meeting… Notable Sales - Mark Penn, the CEO of Stagwell Inc ($STGW / Media) sold 45.28% of his stake in a $77M sale on March 14th
- William Rodes, the Chairman, President & CEO of Autozon ($AZO / Speciality Retail) sold 66.56% of his position in a $71.6M sale on March 14th
- General Catalyst, a 10% owner of Samsara ($IOT / Software) exited its position in a $56.5M sale on March 13th
Notable Buys - Warren Buffet bought another $466M of Occidental Petroleum ($OXY / Oil & Gas) for a 3.94% increase in shares on March 13th
- Alphabet Inc increased its stake in Gitlab by 49.38% with an $18.9M purchase on March 13th
- Carl Icahn made 3 purchases of Southwest Gas Holdings ($SWX / Gas Utilities):
- March 13th: $14.3M (+2.59%)
- March 15th: $1.58M (+.28%)
- March 16th: $10.7M (+1.87%)
- Stephen Ellis, a Director at Charles Schwab ($SCHW / Capital Markets) increased his stake by 52.57% with a $2M purchase on March 15
- Schwab also caught a $2.9M bid from Co-Chairman / CEO Walter Bettinger on March 14th, increasing his stake by 8.24%
High-Level Stats: - Purchases increased from $263M to $638M (+143%)
- Sales decreased from $5B to $2.15B (-57%)
- Transactions fell from 1,025 to 987 (-4%)
- Companies represented in Form 4s decreased from 544 to 475 (-13%)
- Net buyers increased from 105 to 155 (+48%)
- Net sellers declined from 439 to 320 (-27%)
- Insiders filing Form 4s dropped from 911 to 857 (-6%)
- Net buyers rose from 163 to 271 (+66%)
- Net sellers declined from 748 to 586 (-22%)
Transaction Selection - All Open Market Transactions from March 13th - March 17th. These are Form 4 filings with a Transaction Code of “P” or “S”. This narrows the scope to trades where insiders are putting their money on the line.
- Both indirect and direct transactions are included in the reports.
- Weekly comparisons are to transactions from March 6th - March 10th.
- No companies without a ticker
- No penny stocks or banned tickers.
Further Context - Form 4 data is impacted by a concept known as backfill which is par for the course with transactional data. The delay between the Filing Date and the Transaction Date is *roughly\* 2 days and your mileage will vary. This means that more transactions for past dates can arrive in future filings. That is why looking at larger trends is key.
- To combat backfill, filings through this Tuesday are included *if\* the transaction date is from the prior week. Otherwise, transactions from this week are excluded.

2023.03.22 13:54 Sig-three-six-five Men's tech pants-Which Lulu or should I even Lulu?!
Hi all! Long time reader, first time poster. I work in an office environment (financial sector) with a business casual dress code (i.e. shirt, slacks, no tie) and due to some upcoming building upgrades we're moving to a hybrid schedule with a caveat that I may get called in at a moments notice (I'm anti-fraud/financial crimes prevention). With this mind, I'm considering wearing something like a "performance wear" pants when working from home so I'm not scrambling to change if I were to get called in for something. I have tried Twillory and Bluffworks ascender chinos. The Twillory are soft and stretchy, almost like wearing sweats that are cut like slacks, same with Bluffworks but they are too swishy-pants like for the office. I know Lululemon has a some different lines (Commission, ABC) but I really would need some insider suggestions as to what direction to do in and try. I'd likely be wearing them with casual shoes but not sneakers, maybe an ankle boot or something. So you're advice is appreciated especially since Lululemon isn't exactly cheap and I'm not making that 6 figure salary!
Thanks in advance everyone!

2023.03.22 13:02 winter_breezee so sick of school
There's so much fucking work to do in school. I can't take it anymore. Every hour I think about school and my grades. I can't enjoy anything without thinking about my assignments. I can't stand my teachers. They're unfair and unempathetic. I always wish that I could get high before my classes start so I'm just out of it for the day. I hate school so much, I hate showing up and I hate seeing the people there. It's just so annoying. Every single aspect of it stresses me out. Not to mention the fucking dress code for fucks sake, why am I getting in trouble for wearing the wrong socks. I wish I could drop out, but then I'd probably end up on the streets. I am losing my mind.

2023.03.22 12:54 Puzzleheaded-100 Manager strictly enforcing a dress code
In our department we have a new manager who was only recently appointed and has so far been good to work for. Although we have a quite formal business dress code which applies to all staff including non customer facing staff like myself, our previous manager was very lax around this and didn't enforce it at all.
Our new manager though has told us that she now wants to make big changes to this. She has made it clear that she will be strictly enforcing the dress code and she will go through the disciplinary procedure with anyone found not to be complying. She gave an example of if she sees anyone not wearing a tie, she will discipline them.
She is young and enthusiastic though this is her first managerial role so she is inexperienced. I don't mean to put her down at all, but I thought that her approach was a bit over the top and felt that this could have been better addressed. However some of my co workers actually welcome her strict approach as they say they have previously worked for other companies where they have complied with a dress code and other members in a department have been allowed to get away with not complying which they found very annoying.
So they feel our new manager has approached this well and that she is going to discipline anyone seen not complying with things such as not wearing a tie is fair way to ensure everyone complies as they should.
What do you think? Have you experienced this type of approach by a manager? Is it a fair way to ensure everyone complies?
