2023.03.22 16:04 Cold-Cantaloupe-8404 Sibling for August

Help! T-7 weeks from baby and the name well is dry. Sibling is August. Love it because it's timeless and unique but not completely uncommon. Looking for a similar vibe for both a boy and a girl.

2023.03.22 16:03 sea_monkeys Baby is due in 2 wks and we are at a total loss for names...

A baby bump group recommended I post this here...
I'm at a loss. Maybe Reddit can help. Baby arrives in 2wks. Total loss for a boy name that sounds good in English and French.
On our list thus far that we agree on: Noah. Jack. Leo. Nate.
Names I love: henry (meh in french), Callum or Jude (husband doesn't like)
I like them. But they don't feel right???
Liam/William and Lucas and Luke and Mateo are my nephews so automatically vetoed)
It does NOT help that I'm a teacher and somehow so many boy names need to be automatically vetoed for just bringing back horrific memories lol. šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø I know I'm overthinking. But can you share ideas/inspiration!?
I'm scared to mention deal breaker student names because I don't want to offend anyone šŸ˜‚
English/French sounding decent is pretty important to us

2023.03.22 15:57 BeauIsSub-Par Trans man looking for name help

I'm looking to get my name changed to Beau in the near future and I still don't have a middle name picked out. I really like the name Lochlan but I'm afraid it might be too out there. Any opinions or suggestions? My last name is Alexander :)

hi all! wondering what names you guys think are similar to Mia and Dana. I like how short and sweet they are and I like the 'uh' ending but suggestions don't have to include that!

2023.03.22 15:47 Mrs-Nugget Name thoughts?!

My daughters name is Margot Adele. Adele is a family name, and I’m just simply obsessed with my girls name. I’ve been thinking a lot about future names to go with it, and I’d really love to use the family name Constance as a middle name. I know Constance isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but it’s my grandma so I love it.
With that, we obviously love vintage and classic names so we are loving the name June. So we were thinking June Constance.
Thoughts on Margot Adele with a sibling name of June Constance?!

2023.03.22 15:46 mediumspacebased Stuck between Cassidy/Sienna/Lyra for baby girl

I am due in a few weeks and my husband and I are so stuck on picking a name. I thought I would just know when I came across the right name but that has not turned out to be the case.
Husband likes ā€œtomboyishā€ but recognizable/comfortable names. I prefer more unique names, as I have never met anyone with my own name and have always liked that. Our last name rhymes with ā€œmason.ā€
My husband really likes Sienna and I would be ok with it except I really detest the nickname ā€œCiciā€ and I fear it would be unavoidable. Also concerned it may be too trendy. I like Cassidy and the possible nicknames that come with it but i don’t care for the Wild West associations. Our 3rd choice is Lyra but we hesitate to go with something so obviously based on a specific character, and I have a cousin named Lila.
Would really appreciate votes/opinions/alternative options!

2023.03.22 15:20 desertgirl1990 Honoring Monica or Daniel for baby

If our next child is a boy I’d like to incorporate Daniel. My first son is David Rio so Daniel would be a great first name for another but my sister has a son daniel. I love the feel of a classic first name and nature second name. Would it be strange to name second son something like ā€œRiver Danielā€ for example? I initially think it’d be weird to have a ā€œDavid(classic) and river(more out there)ā€
If our next child is a girl I would love to honor my mom monica with incorporating her name. I don’t want to use it as a first name I don’t think and the middle name will be joy. I was thinking maybe doing Joy Monica as a middle name? Idk if anyone has thoughts.
This is just the stuff floating around my head lol thank you for reading!

2023.03.22 15:14 Nerdgamerfanboy Name the voice in my head that likes to tell me I'm worthless

So I have depression (Could you tell from the title?), and my friend just gave me a tip to help silence the hateful voice in my head. Basically it helps to give the voice a name so you can tell it to shut up.
Now I'm also transmasc and feminine names just don't feel right. I'd like to stick to names that are masculine or gender neutral. It'd also be nice if the name is pretty rare so that I don't create a negative association with a common name.
My friend named the voice in their head Regis, which I like the vibe of, but I wanted to come up with some more ideas.
So what's a good name for an asshole?

2023.03.22 15:07 youre_a_wizard_baby Help me name my home/garden?

I may be stuck in the suburbs right now but our family eventually hopes to have a little home on some land with a small homestead. I’ve always loved how some homes or estates in Europe have names and would love to find a name for our home and little farm/garden. We have chickens, a large vegetable garden, and I’m slowly expanding our lawn into native growth/wildflowers. I’m aiming for the cottage look.
What I’d like in a name is preferably something Scottish Gaelic (English is ok too) that references smallness/tiny/quaint/cute and farming/gardening/specific vegetables? For instance, we frequently refer to our kids as ā€˜neeps (turnips) and I have a Stardew Valley farm named Radish Grove Farm. Let me know if more info is needed! I’d love to see if anyone can come up with something fun and creative! TIA!

2023.03.22 14:44 Luckykitty91 Fun names for elephant toys?

My baby boy LOVES elephant toys, he's too young to name them himself, so I've started naming them (because why not kill time on maternity leave!) I would like to somehow incorporate elephant or some words meaning elephant into the names. So far I have:
Harry Belafonte Timothy Olyphant (a personal favourite as my husband and I love the actor) Ella Phante Eleanore Oliphant (great book)
What else you got?

2023.03.22 14:04 Playful-Yam-7926 Pretty/interesting but 'realistic' surnames for Claire?

Hi all! I'm looking to change my surname for personal reasons, and would love any suggestions! Bonus points if it could tick any of these boxes; Irish/Scottish origin, feminine/softer sound, 'cool' sounding, realistic enough not to be questioned. Some I am considering are Valentine, Munro, and Morgan - thank you in advance for any opinions or suggestions!

2023.03.22 13:49 chibunnie Baby girl name, need help please!

First time mom, currently 36 0/7 weeks pregnant and feeling the looming fear of the labor and delivery. And especially that we still haven't finalized on our baby girl name
2 years before, my now-husband and i always referred our future baby as "Clementine" since its his favorite fruit and close to my grandfather's name who passed away recently (Clemente). We juggled with adding either Ines Clementine or Paula Clementine (Paulina is my late grandma).
But since our gender reveal 2 weeks ago its late that i realized that clementine has diff pronunciations and the one i hear people in my area. in the US say it as clemenTAYN, and that is not the one we wanted it to sound like, since it wont go well with the surname (im an Asian less than a year living in the US, and we say it as clemenTEEN). I pretty much thought before it was going to be a boy, and already kinda liked the name we chose (Clevin Paul).
And also i read some reddit post that a lot of people don't like clementine as a name so basically i just scratched the idea off.
Any suggestions for baby girl names? Any names starting El- or derived from flowers (spring baby) would be okay. I also want two names. Or a mixture of names from our loved ones
So far what i kinda liked/what others prev suggested
Combinations (including the previously stated less favored ones)

2023.03.22 13:45 Only-Conclusion-9545 Liam & William too much?

Hi name nerds! I really need your help.
I’m pregnant with my first (don’t know yet if it’s a boy or girl) and really need to settle my naming anxiety.
I’ve been set on the name William for a son for years. My closest cousin was named William (Bill) and he passed away some years ago. I’ve wanted to honor him since. I also have a few other close family members with the name that I’d love to honor as well. They primarily go by Bill/Billy. I’d always thought I’d name my son William and call him either William or Will (we have enough Bills and I want the name to honor not be a direct replica).
The problem I’m facing is that my stepson’s name is Liam. My partner is totally fine with naming our son William but he wants to call him Will instead of William so that it’s not so similar. I’m still a little anxious that having a Liam and a William is too close.
I feel like I need to have my mind wrapped around this before I find out ā€œit’s a boyā€ and start thinking of him as William.
So name nerds, what are your thoughts? Is William useable with a sibling Liam? Or do I just need to let it go and use it as a middle name?
Thank you!

2023.03.22 12:53 One-Wasabi-2550 Maren or Eleanor?

Baby girl is due next week and we still haven’t settled on a name! We’d like to keep Elizabeth in the middle since it’s a family name. Surname is short and begins with a B.
Which do you prefer? Am I missing any obvious red flags?
(Maren Elizabeth) or (Eleanor Elizabeth)
