My uncle paid for a friend's rental car on the promise he would be paid back. He wasn't involved in any of the paperwork or operation of the vehicle, only footing the bill (a few hundred dollars) after the friend realized they didn't have enough. This was in Illinois, but the driver has since moved to Canada. Is there a potential for reimbursement through small claims court?

Repost since I didn’t add the tag and added a bit more to the body text
I’m male and don’t know how to tell my family that I want to be a female and that I want to undergo a transition. I’m scared to tell them because my dad is a hard Christian and sort of the head of the family. I full heartedly believe that if I am a girl my life would improve significantly.
I started feeling this way when I was 8 and decide to try on one of my moms clothes and when I fell in love with myself I started doing whenever I could. I also started to explore with dresses and skirts but never really thought about being trans until my parents decided to go to Las Vegas for a few days during which me and my brother were home alone and whenever he fell asleep I would crossdress and accidentally fell asleep with the dress on but no one noticed and when I woke up I felt refreshed and happy to wake up in a dress. Since then I started to look at the possibility that i would be better off as a girl and I also started to think about scenarios where I woke up as a girl and that would help me fall asleep.
I am currently thinking of telling my brother since he isn’t much of a Christian and has some friends in the lgbtq community, but after thinking I started to fear that he would act irrationally and tell everyone or beat me.
What would be the best thing for me to do in my case?

hi all, I was in a hit and run (they hit me and ran) and I dont have insurance to cover my rental.
I need to get from hollywood to Burbank airport for daily work, so I think I can take the LA bus metro but I've never done it. or Bike?
how do I find my maps and plan routes and plan and get passes etc?
(yes, I'm googling it and going to metro site but I would welcome anybody who can relate and any tips.)
was metro an easy transition for you? do you recommend? should I just get a bike? I may be without car for a while and I dont want to pay $1500 in rental car fees.

I booked a rental car through the C1 portal a while back, everything went through fine. This morning I could check in early for my rental car to skip the line. I guess my name got messed up and my suffix is in front (suffix, first name, last name). I called Hertz, they can’t do anything because C1 uses Hopper to book. I called C1, my name is correct (first name, last name, suffix). C1 calls Hertz, Hertz says my name is actually fine but I can’t check in online.
When I had Chase I never had this issue with Enterprise, already want to switch back.

I’m going through a break up and I’m attempting to get out of a rut and I have decided on doing something I have been looking to do for quite some time and that’s hopefully going to America for a few weeks maybe a month or so by myself, I’m hoping to potentially do some work out there since I’m a tattoo artist but I would ideally like to make some friends state side to give me advice or recommendations and in general hopefully make some like minded friends.
I’m still torn between which state/city I’d like to go to I’m thinking perhaps Las Vegas, San Fransisco, Texas, Charleston or Florida perhaps.
A bit about myself as I said above I work as a tattoo artist so I’m interested in tattoos, I love films, Warhammer, anime, games, always sunny in Philadelphia, D&D and airsoft.
I’m also a big fan of Music; I like City morgue, $uicideboy$,Tyler the creator and just quite heavy and alternative rap in general but if you got any of these in common with me or any advice feel free to send me a message, I am quite introverted and suck at making friends but I’ll give it my best shot

2023.03.22 16:49 Ming-Tzu Taiwan West Coast Travel - Train vs Drive?

Slowly building the rough itinerary of my 3-4 week Taiwan solo trip this summer. I know the east coast is more outdoorsy/nature/hiking/etc. and better to have a car. But how about the west coast of the island?
Without doing any research yet, I am looking at places like Keelung, New Taipei, Taoyuan, Taichung, Chiayi, Tainan and Kaohsiung. Are there interesting sites in between these places that would make sense to have a car rental? Or should I take the high speed train between these cities and then rent the car in the south of the country and make my road trip back up north on the east side back to Taipei?

Firstly, I want to express my gratitude to this sub. Without you guys I would not know anything about this process in the slightest and would not be where I am today. It's been spoken ad nauseum about how much of a disadvantage you have being a First Gen, but y'all made it way better. So thank you.
Now down to business. I have found myself with many great options (with some still pending) but at this point it is down to these final two contenders barring something unforeseen.
For context: My goals are extremely hyper specific. I want to represent either a state or federal gaming commission, then eventually move in-house at a casino (preferably in Las Vegas lol.)
I am pretty ambivalent overall as to whether I live in Tucson or in Arlington, though I know Arlington is way more expensive. I also understand that the odds are decent that I will be working in these regions at least to start, but it potentially is not a certainty (see below).
The biggest dilemma is in the fact that Arizona has been really good to me. They got back within 2 weeks and gave me the full ride. They have an extensive Indian Law program, which I could use to develop relationships with the tribes and work in a casino at a reservation (something I have thought about which could give me more portability than the norm.)
However, working for a state gaming commission or working for the National Indian Gaming Commission (federal) SCREAMS George Mason. Their ties to the government are unmatched, and their commitment to free speech is an ideal that I hold close to my heart. Additionally, they give me the best chance at a FC, which would be cool but is NOT a necessity.
On a final note, I sent a scholarship reconsideration request to GMU to see if I can get any more money. The results are TBD.
