1. Objectives:
The aim of this activity is to improve the quality of higher education and to reinforce its international dimension, to promote cooperation between partner universities, and to increase student mobility.
The main objective is to participate in the financing of academic exchanges of Master’s or PhD students from the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) throughout their stay at UPC.
2. Eligible candidates:
Applications are sought from students in engineering master’s or PhD programmes (http://www.upc.edu/eng/education/master-and-post-graduate-courses?set_language=en&cl=en ).
Successful applicants will remain at UPC for one semester during the academic year 2010-2011. The total length of their stay is meant to be of 6 months. Although the stay could be extended, the total amount of the grant will be the same: 5.000 €.
Selected students will work on:
• Their final degree project (master’s thesis)
• Part of the research for their PhD thesis.
This call for applications is for Beijing Institute of Technology students only (see the list of requirements below).
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
? Be regular students at BIT
? Have Chinese nationality
? Be enrolled in a master’s or PhD programme at BIT
? Live in China
? Have BIT as their home university

COMMONWEALTH SCHOLARSHIPS TENABLE IN SOUTH AFRICA FOR POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH & DOCTORAL STUDIES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF PRETORIA, SOUTH AFRICA
Job Description : The University of Pretoria regards itself as a research intensive university. Hence, it is seeking candidates who will make a significant contribution to its research endeavour. As part of an initiative by the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the University of Pretoria has made funds available for two doctoral scholarships for students coming from Commonwealth Countries (excluding South African students). This scholarships will be known as the University of Pretoria Commonwealth Doctoral Scholarship , which will be awarded on a competitive basis.
The University of Pretoria has established a reputation for academic excellence, particularly in relation to some of its major research activities. 1. Application forms for Confucious Institute Scholarship Program 2010.
2. Photocopy of the passport.
3. Application statement (more than 200 words) to introduce the Chinese language ability, study plans and goals in China of the candidate. The statement should be written in Chinese or English and signed. Those who apply for the MD program of International Chinese Language Education should elaborate on the study and research plans in China.
4. Certificate of Chinese Language Ability. Those who apply for the MD program of International Chinese Language Education should submit the copy of HSK Exam records.
5. Diploma and academic records issued by the schools or educational institutions from which the candidates graduated, with the offical stamps of the schools on them. The diploma and records issured in languages other than Chinese or English should be submitted together with the certified translations in Chinese or English. Those who would like to pursue a degree should submit the recommendation letters from two professors in Chinese or English.
